31th Annual Roundup Nationals – Kingsport, Tennessee

Make plans to attend the 31st Annual Roundup Nationals in Kingsport, Tennessee.  We were there in 2020…and it is time to go back and do it up right this time.  For our 31st Annual Roundup Nationals, the MCCI moves the Roundup Nationals 473 miles south to Tennessee, the 9th different state to host a Roundup Nationals, all in the beauty of the Appalachian mountains in Kingsport, Tennessee. This WILL be the largest Maverick/Comet show ever in the USA, and you will not want to miss it!!

Wednesday, July 17, 2024:  Early Arrival Day & Day Cruise.  Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium, 853 Bays Mountain Park Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.  Leave the host hotel at 1:00pm for the 15 minute drive to Bays Mountain, a 3500 acre nature preserve and the largest city owned park in the state of Tennessee.  The Park features a picturesque 44 acre lake, hiking trails, a Nature Center with a state-of-the-art Planetarium Theater, and Animal Habitats featuring wolves, bobcats, raptors and reptiles.  Entrance fee is $7 per vehicle.  Free park entry for one vehicle with valid military ID.  Planetarium Theater Shows at 2pm & 4pm: $6 per person for ages 6 and older.  Free with valid military ID.  Children 5 and under will receive a free pass.  Barge Rides (at 3pm): $6 per person (any age).  Free with valid military ID.  Zip lines are closed.                                                    www.BaysMountain.com

Thursday, July 18, 2024:  Family Day & Day Cruise #1.  Bristol, Tennessee.  We start off at Bristol Motor Speedway, 151 Speedway Blvd., Bristol, Tennessee 37620.  Leave host hotel at 12:00pm for the 30 minute drive to Bristol Motor Speedway.  Bristol Motor Speedway, formerly known as Bristol International Raceway and Bristol Raceway, is a NASCAR short track venue. Constructed in 1960, it held its first NASCAR race on July 30, 1961.  While there we can take in the gift shop, take advantage of some great photo opportunities, and get a unique view of the track. Some may choose to hang around for a one-hour bus tours that start at 1:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm, limited to 15 people per tour.  Optional bus tours are $15.00 per person, seniors 55+ and children 4-12 are $12.00 per person, under 4 are free. After Bristol Motor Speedway, you have the option of cruising into Historic Downtown Bristol.  Check out State Street:  One side of the street is Virginia, the other side is Tennessee.  Lots of unique shops, specialty and antique stores, restaurants, as well as the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.  Look for on and off street parking.  Check out the websites for more info

Friday, July 19, 2024:  Family Day & Day Cruise #2.  Natural Tunnel State Park, 1420 Natural Tunnel Pkwy., Duffield, VA 24244.  Leave the host hotel at 1:00pm for the 25 minute drive to this state park features 909 acres.  More than 850 feet long and 10 stories high, Natural Tunnel was naturally carved through a limestone ridge over thousands of years. William Jennings Bryan called it the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Other scenic features include a wide chasm between steep stone walls surrounded by several pinnacles, or “chimneys.” Facilities include two campgrounds, cabins, picnic areas, an amphitheater, a visitor center, a camp store and a gift shop. You’ll also find the Wilderness Road historic area, a swimming pool with a 100-foot slide and a chairlift to the tunnel floor. Guests enjoy cave tours and canoe trips on the Clinch River, as well as the Cove Ridge Center, which offers environmental education, conference facilities and overnight dorm accommodations. The Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Center was new in 2020.  Entrance fee is $5 per vehicle.

9:00 AM – Noon: Registration      $10 per entry       Noon – 2:00 PM: Judging

3:00 PM: Awards Ceremony in Crockett Amphitheater in the Convention Wing of the host hotel.

Sunday, July 21, 2024:   Departure Day
