Wednesday, July 16, 2025 - Early Arrival Day & Day Cruise: Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, 3501 Lexington Road, Harrodsburg KY 40330. We will leave the host hotel at 9:00am for the 41 minute drive to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, a landmark destination that shares 3,000 acres of discovery in the spirit of the Kentucky Shakers. Home to the third largest Shaker community in the United States between 1805 and 1910, the vibrant site offers experiences designed to ignite curiosity, expand imaginations and inspire generations. We will participate in a private guided tour starting at 10:30am of the village and homes of “Shakers”, known for their iconic architecture, skilled craftsmanship and profound spirituality. Shaker Village is home to an impressive collection of Shaker architecture, furniture, artifacts and archives. With 34 Shaker structures, built from 1809 to 1875, the site is home to Kentucky’s largest National Historic Landmark and the country’s largest private collection of original 19th century buildings. We plan to spend the day, and lunch can be found on your own at The Trustees’ Table Restaurant, or grab n go food in their Craft Shop, The Post Office, offering sandwiches, beer cheese and pretzels, beverages and more. Reservations are STRONGLY recommended for The Trustees’ Table Restaurant as seating may not be available otherwise. After lunch you are free to explore and discover on your own. Thursday, July 17, 2025 - Family Day & Day Cruise #1. Kentucky Horse Park, 4089 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511. One-half mile east of I-75 off Iron Works Pike (KY 1973) at Exit 120. Please use “4089 Iron Works Pike” (not “Parkway”) as the street address when utilizing GPS and mapping software. We will leave the host hotel at 1:00pm for the 10 minute drive. Lexington is the horse capital of the world, and we will find out why at Kentucky Horse Park, the premier event venue for equestrians and those who love and want to learn more about horses and our relationship with the horse. At the Kentucky Horse Park, nearly 50 breeds of horse graze upon the 1,200 acres of lush bluegrass. The Big Barn offers historic charm and southern elegance, while the North Exhibit Hall has 20,000 square foot of modern space, multiple courtyards, the recently refurbished international Museum of the Horse, the Visitor Center with Gift Shop, and two indoor arenas seating 5,500 and 1,200. Friday, July 18, 2025 - Family Day & Day Cruise #2. We will start our the day at Mary Todd Lincoln House, 578 W. Main Street, Lexington, KY 40507. We will leave the host hotel at 9:30am for the 15 minute drive. We will break off in groups of 15 and participate in a one hour guided tour starting at 10:00am. The Mary Todd Lincoln House was the family home of the future wife of the sixteenth President of the United States. In 1977, the girlhood home opened to the public and became the first house museum in the country to honor a First Lady. Paid parking is available in the church parking lot next door. Museum visitors receive two hours of free parking in this lot. Metered parking is also available on Main Street. www.mtlhouse.org
After Mary Todd Lincoln House, you are free to eat on your own at any of the nearby restaurants.
After lunch we will meet at Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate, 120 Sycamore Road, Lexington, KY 40502. Located at the corner of Sycamore and Richmond Roads in Lexington. Richmond Road is an extension of Main Street (US 25/KY 922). Ashland is approximately 1.5 miles southeast from downtown Lexington. Ashland’s parking lot entrance is located on Fincastle Road. When using Ashland’s address in GPS, you will be directed to the front of the house, not the parking lot entrance. There is a paved parking lot and an overflow grass-crete area. Ashland, the home of famous 19th-century statesman Henry Clay, is at the edge downtown Lexington on a beautiful 17-acre wooded estate with an English parterre garden. The home is filled with Clay family belongings and memorabilia. We can take advantage of a sunny day and enjoy their famous grounds and gardens, grab a snack at the café, or shop at the H. Clay & Co. Museum Store. We will break off in groups of 10-12 and participate in a one hour guided tour starting at 1:30pm. Admission is $20.
